                                        Trojan War

War? can either be considered as one of the most evolutionary events that a person can endure and something so uncommon for most people that there is ample opportunity to gain wisdom from the experience. Dealing with wars can certainly make a person different as he was before. It will change you. It can grow you and it can take things away from you. Talking about wars doesn't just deal with disturbing things that it can do yet learnings have also a prominent role in it. By means the ability to exude confidence when faced with death. Notify us that we are stronger than believe ourselves to be and that we may possess strength, wisdom, and insight beyond expectation.

The story of the Trojan war has fascinated individuals for centuries by means they have given rise to countless scholarly articles, books, epic movies, tv documentaries, sculptures nor souvenirs. Based on what I've found archaeologists are hesitant to conclude that such an event took place. In other words, there was various conclusion whether the Trojan war did happen yet most of the results is that the war did exist based on those pieces of evidence, information that have come up. Archaeology has allegedly confirmed Troy (Ilion) existed, was sacked several times, rebuilt and was a subject to war at the time which the Trojan Cycle suggests. To point out, Trojan Cycle is not a historical record, but it is not a fairy tale either. Did it happen the way described in the Trojan cycle? Most likely not. While we do have today both archaeological evidence Trojan War really happened and also literary indices from Hittite documents there indeed was a war where Wilusa (Ilusa, Ilion) was sacked. Certain characters, like Paris (also known as Alexander), referred as ‘Alaksandush’ in Hittite records, are likely to have been historical. But the historicity of the Trojan War was finally confirmed in 1988, when an outer wall of Troy VIIa was discovered, extending the area of Troy VIIa tenfold and making Troy VIIa a real city instead of a mere akropolis, hilltop fort. Whatever that war is, there are several proofs, albeit shadowy, that shows that the war did indeed happen between 1600–1100 BC. It’s just that the mythical stuff did not happen.

Dealing with conflicts wouldn't be as mild as it looks in fact, it's natural and inevitable as it should be. Considering having one is seemingly laborious to manage. However, it can be resolved in certain ways. As human beings, we are primed to respond to stress with a match as a response which is inappropriate. That connects to the story of Trojan war where jealously, rage, pride, or even revenge was the main concern. Whatever the reason, these quarrels become something that shapes and defines an individual. Hence, we need to find a way to address conflict that is direct and assertive, while also respectful and diplomatic. There are ways of dealing with conflict constructively to resolve arguments and disputes amicably, instead of allowing the situation to get out of hand. Conflict resolution is an important skill for everyone to develop.

Indeed, a war leaves with scars, whether emotional or physical perhaps probably the most unfair thing in life that someone may have to deal with. Though having a disturbing war could also lead to a comprehension that life itself isn't just about surviving but instead how we live with it. Learnings are one thing as well. How to keep our hopes alive, hope is abstract, but the repercussions of losing hope can be detrimental to any life.

NEPAL’S EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS PLAN

Nepal is a highly disaster-prone country. The country has a fault line at the lower part of Nepal between Indo-Australian plate and Eurasian Plate. The fault is a more likely part of the Alpine- Himalayan Belt because of the place being near the Himalayans and Mt. Everest. Nepal is also known as “the ceiling of the world” because it has 8 out of 10 of the world’s highest mountains. The first in the list is the Mount Everest. It is the collision of these plates that has produced the Himalaya Mountains, and with them, there are earthquakes. The epicenter was near the Chinese border between the capital of Kathmandu and Mt. Everest.

For the structure if their buildings, they’re mostly from the Buddha’s period which could be thousands of years ago. The traditional resources were adobe constructions, wooden-framed houses, and rubble stone masonry were the most popular in villages while urban and suburbs were stone or brick masonry which is 20% of reinforced concrete. So that means that 80% of Nepal’s buildings were non-engineered. April 25 earthquake measured 7.8 on the moment magnitude scale, the largest since the 1934 Bihar quake, which measured 8.2 and killed around 10,000 people. Another quake in Kashmir in 2005, measuring 7.6, killed around 80,000 people.

After the earthquake event, ninety-four percent of people have realized the risk of earthquake disaster while more than eighty percent have seriously discussed the potential effect within family and community and identified the need for preparedness at the household and community level

Before and After the Bihar Earthquake

Building structures from Nepal

The reaction-based from the information gathered, we are clearly disturbed because Nepal isn’t ready enough in case there are earthquakes or disasters. Since Nepal is also considered as one of the world’s natural disaster “hotspots” Even the structures of the buildings and houses are made out of adobe construction, wooden framed houses and rubble stone masonry. Nepal is one of the most destructive and life taking scenarios if any quake might happen. Their facilities and structures are not compatible for any trembling may occur. Nepal has the convergent boundary or also known as a destructive boundary in which it can be so dangerous for the people living. If they won’t strengthen and enhance their facilities, structures, and preparedness, many would suffer their lives, so with that, they should be warned.

Between the two countries of Nepal and the Philippines, both of them are in poverty but Nepal has lack of facilities for them to improve the structures of their buildings. Nepal was placed literally on top of Alpine-Himalayan Belt while the Philippines is placed around 5 different faults namely The Eastern Philippine Fault, The South of Mindanao Fault, Central Philippine Fault, and the Markina/ Valley Fault System. So, therefore, Nepal gets more intense earthquakes than the Philippines. Nepal also gets least volunteers than the Philippines, their preparedness plan is different from the Philippines. According to our research, five percent of the locals in Nepal only participated in discussions events and think that these type of programs are neither sufficient nor effective. Eighty-five percent of the people have learned about earthquake risk from these media sources. In Nepal they don’t perform or execute in having seminars or discussions, they only tell the civilians what will happen before, during, and after the earthquake. While in the Philippines the NDRRMC hold seminars that discuss and make the civilians perform for them to get to know what will happen before, during and after. They inform what should they prepare if any calamities might happen. The buildings of Nepal are mostly made of stone brick masonry and only 40% of total buildings are made of reinforced concrete, which can withstand an earthquake with better survivability while in the Philippines total percentage of reinforced concrete buildings is considerably higher.

Earthquakes are unpredictable, we individuals wouldn’t even know whether when will that thing happen nor would that be vulnerable one or not. As what individuals would always say, “Best the thing to do is just to be prepared physically and mentally”

We should be prepared anytime because we cannot predict our future. That’s why preparedness should be practiced and must matter to everyone the most so that not only you can save yourself, but if you see someone needs help, you can lend your hands to grab them. Be alert every time and join any seminars that involve first aid and preparedness so that if there are calamities, you always know what to do and what you shouldn’t do.

Before, Nepal’s earthquake plan regarding on preparedness is not so powerful enough to lessen the casualties since Nepal is also known as one of the poorest country, and they couldn’t afford to make the structures of the buildings strong enough to withstand the tragedy. But now, a new government task force was created to help deal with future earthquakes. The people are now educated across Nepal to perform earthquake drills.

It’s also good since they are planning for the structures of the building that it shouldn’t be the same as before where it can be easily crushed into pieces due to the trembling and movement of the ground that can’t withstand the subduction of the two plates which are the Indo- Australian Plate and Eurasian Plate.

     DESIDERATA

MAx Ehrmann - Desiderata

What is it actually? Probably when its the feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment. Its the matter of contentment, in other words, fulfills the needs. Individuals tend to go for family, partners and such perhaps this isn't just about them. In my perspective, its when the feeling of acceptance towards everyone specifically the one who I'm closed to. And withstanding those conflicts that I encountered daily. Though talking about happiness has various branches, it just depends on how a person deals with it.

As the poem tackles on how an individual should act. The lines "Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness".  Strength of spirit is an inner force that is our own, nurturing this strength is a disciplined decision to build character. This is notable though it allows you to be in charge of your life and happiness. Especially when difficulty strikes. Help then is not usually available readily. In times like this, the strength of spirit that you cultivated will stand you in good stead. You are not helpless. You know that you can rely on yourself. In times, fears could be dominant in all terms, no one wants that. Our minds could be our worst enemy. "Dark imaginings" nor negative thoughts speaks that it could come from unnecessary worrying, distrust or anger. That line identifies that the root of most fears deriving from tiredness and isolation. Hence, it directs us to consciously steer away from depressing situations and rein our minds in.

Frankly, it does though it gives enlightenment to those conflicts that shouldnt be kept in the first place. Never thought that a single poem could provide prominent impact to a particular reader as it leads us to the understanding on how an indivudual should act in terms to a specific thing. It just shows and makes you apprehend that what youve been doing lately is utterly inaccurate.

Having mistakes in making decisions, doings and such are a standard thing. Indeed, its inevitable yet it could be rectify. Accepting and learning is the most beneficial thing to apply as for now though as that day comes you already know how to respond to these kind of actions.

                                       Cyberbullying

Bullying? An act that bullies can't even resist at. This could be a word that people are afraid of. Cyber bullying is a form of violence that is  rampant among teens who have moved away from physical assault to modern style through social media, emails, chats, comments or even images that causes emotional harm towards a certain person. It's also a form of digital abuse, spreading of lies, online disrespect and violation of trust. Cyber bullying can be done either publicly or privately. Bullies may act alone or in groups. Parents and educators should see cyber bullying in action from their child or even to their students but sadly not all of them can take care of that. One thing the victim could have anxiety which could affect the victim reputation for years to come. Harassment, social media, flaming, exclusion and more are one of the part of cyber bullying. Online threats, most bullies  use online harassment to extend the reach of them, bullying behavior form school to online platforms.

Cyber bullying can cause a lot of damages towards to the victim, which can lead to mental disorder, depression or event the worst part losing one's life. No one wants it to happen. I know for a fact that cyber bullying wouldn't vanish that easily and each of us should do the first move to have change. According to statistics form socialwork.tulane.edu that around 1 in 3 students suffers bullying through out the academic year. Cyber bullying victims are 2-9 times more likely to contemplate suicide. Also 61% of overweight teens have reported being bullied online, which that leads the victim to lose his/her reputation as a human being.

Why do victims choose to silent?, Is it because of embarrassment, the pressure to be quiet, concerned that no one will believe them, threaten from the bullies or they feel like they deserve it?. All of this are certainly true as stated by experts from verywellfamily.com. Most of the victims can't even stand for themselves, which sucks the most. They can't even at least defend themselves those bullies. Victims of cyber bullying an fight back by collecting evidence, protecting their account or even reaching out for help from authorized persons. As stated from socialwork.tulane.edu that 15% of students admit to being cyber bullied. Victims are like in cage that has been stuck for a long time, that can't be able to get out cause their being timid or there may be a chance but didn't take it for being afraid on what's out their. The thing is the one who have been bullied shouldn't be intimidated by their bullies. Now a days, kids are seven times more likely to experience cyber bullying from a friend or even on groups.

Parents and educators must be aware of what is going on with their children and they should be their part as the more mature person. The sad thing is not all parents and educators can't monitor those who have been bullied form time to time, is it because of work or they just expect that kids will be kids?. As stated from socialwork.tulane.edu that females are two times more likely to be victim of cyber bullied, which parents and educators can't even take care about. 10% of cyber bullying victim should report to an adult abut getting cyber bullied, which shouldn't be the act that they do.

To sum up everything, cyber bullying shouldn't exist in the first place and it's getting worse and worse every year. Every year damages will always occur or even the worst part, the victim will lose his/her reputation towards him/herself. The only mind-set of the bullied is to just commit suicide, which is not right; Just to escape from that massive disaster. Those people who are having a campaign such as Cyber Awareness campaign are the one's who needs to support from school and even the government. We people, especially those cyber bullied should be grateful to have these kinds of campaigns in order to inform what are those tips or ways on how to face cyber bullying.

Dogs are much better than cats

Well most of u think that cats are much better than dogs, which I disagree. Cats can scratch the curtains or also can ruin the furniture by clawing it while dogs can help save your life and be trained easily. So if I'm gonna decide whether a cat or a dog, I'll rather pick a dog.
Most of the people these days like to have a pet which is a dog and I can assure it to everyone that it's a great choice for example, showing who they really are, according to business insider dogs are real life heroes they are known for their discerning noses, which can be used to sniff out bombs, finding missing persons or track down criminals. And the most special thing that dogs shown to us is that they make life worth living, even when we get old. For those who don't really know about what is like to have a pet which is a dog, I can prove to you that they are much better than cats. Why?, when your with a dog, you'll feel safer and secured all the time.It is proven by a lot of links like dognotebook, petsworlds etc. and also I agree with that because I do have a dog and she do secure me and make me feel safer all the time. It is proven by the spruce that dogs can be trained and most of them loves to work. They gladly sit, stay, lie down and roll over exhange for an edible reward unlike the cats, they can technically be trained but even cat lovers admit that it's not as easy as training a dog, which is a fact.
Cats will go where they want to go; where they want to jump; and scratch where they want to scratch. We all know that dogs can cause a whole lot of destruction but you can usually train a dog and keep him and will be secured and be safe. Also according to the spruce that dogs adapt better to change that cats. Why?, Cats are usually a bot more sensitive to their environment while dogs tend to accept change more easily, it talks about when it comes to introducing new people, pets, items to your homes or moving to a new house so cats generally need more time to adapt they don't automatically trust that all is well. Unlike dogs that if your cool and calm when faced with that new baby comes you door, chances are that your dog will be too.

We all know that dogs makes you feel less stressed and also you're less likely to feel depresssed, having a dog around provides much-needed support to everyone who are feeling strained. The nice thing that a dog has shown us is improving your mood in anytime. Dogs are loyal to their owners and makes them feel love all the time. There was a saying that "A dog is the only thing on Earth that loves you more than he loves himself " according to Josh Billings.

Therefore having a dog is the most special thing that you'll have and dogs gives you more love to everyone that he knows. And if I'm the one who's gonna decide whether a dog or a cat, I'll rather pick a dog. So dogs are much better than cats and that's it.

The Wonder Tree: A Reflection on Society

                       The Wonder Tree

On the desert of Arabia, there was a tribe ruled by Ali Ben. One evening his daughter Zulieka ran to him and told him that there was a stranger going to their tribe. The newcomer told them that the Great Sheik Ben Nedi was coming the next day. Everyone was excited for their visitor is a great leader from another tribe, so they prepared gifts for coming Sheik. While everyone is busy preparing, only Zuleika sat alone and idle. She went near the great stone and sat there to  weep. Suddenly a misty white figure took a shape of a beautiful fairy. The fairy asked Zuleika why she was crying and Zuleika told her the reason. The fairy told her that she has more to offer the Sheik and come abck tomorrow where her tears fell upon and she will find something to give the Sheik. The next morning Zuleika came back and found a tree standing, so she told her father. That afternoon the great Sheik came and agreed that Zuleika's gift was tashe best of all. Arabia bless the day for they know that the tree will furnish them with food, fiber and shade.

        Introduction
The wonder tree is an Arabian Folktale. If you will be reading this blog, you'll know a lot of things especially when Zuleika thought that she had nothing to give to the Great Sheik Ben Nedi but suddenly a fairy help her and gave Zuleika the special gift coming from her own tears and what will came out is a tree. When the Sheik saw the tree and said that that is a the" Greatest Gift from A Child's Tears" and Arabia bless that day. I thought that this story has connection to the Arabian traditions and culture.           This blog talks about how the wonder tree started and also what's behind this story. This blog may include my reactions, oipinions etc. base on the story that I chose.

           Body

When Zulieka show her gift to the Sheik

This story has a moral lesson and that is we should not think negative things always like what Zulieka did to herself. Zulieka directly think to herself that she don't have the chance and time to give the gift to the Great Sheik Ben Nedi, because her camel died and she can't think for a another gift besides her own camel. Until Zuleika discovered something and that is, every wish or something that you want there will always be hope and patience for that thing you want. The folktale implies the culture of Arabians being hospitable to visitors from faraway lands. Offerings gifts to their visitors gives me a hint of the culture of Arabia which can be somewhat similar to our Filipino values. The folktale also find a way how the date palm can show the identity of the Arabian land.

Ghwarrie Tree

Shepard's Tree

Approximately 12 km from Willowmore, the "Wonderboom" or "Wonder Tree" is found. Here, two trees namely the Ghwarrie tree (Eudea undulate) and a Shepard's Tree (Boscia Oleolides also called a witgat) grow next to each other. What makes this "Wonder Tree" unique. is the fact that the Shepard's Tree has three stems coming up out of the ground. Two of the stems have joined each other, forming an "eye of the needle" and the third stem has grown througrh the eye, forming the "thrllead". thus wonderfully creating a "needle and thread effect". The Ghwarrie Tree merely keeps the Shepard's Tree company. Both of these plants are regarded as shrubs, but due to years of grazing by stocks. they are nowadays regarded as trees. While making the formal road between Aberdeen and Willowmore in about 1906, this unique tree was discovered. At the time, it was already a mature tree. Fairly little attention was given this unique tree. It was only when this road was tarred in 1961, that people gave it more attention and really acknowledged the "Wonderboom" as a unique phenomen and a wonder of nature. In recent years, the e tree was fenced off to protect if from being grazed and from destruction and many people wondered why the "Wonderboom" was mentioned. In early 1900, the veld around Willowmore was put under pressure by small stock grazing. Both the Ghwarrie tree ans the Shepards's tree are tasty. Goats in particular, pruned the umbrella shaped, thus making the wonder visible. It is very  difficult to determine the age of this tree because of it's slow growth rate. The "Wonder Tree" can be hundreds of years old.          From that day on , the date palm tree spread throughout the desert and is still today one of the greatest gifts known to Arabia. Food, shelter. medicine and fuel are just few of the many uses of the date palm. My reaction base from the culture and history is that we should respect it, now matter what happens. We didn't really know that the story of  the wonder tree is really related to the history and culture by itself. While my opinion to the culture and history is that people should respect the Arabians and also the story called "The Wonder Tree", even though it is not your country.

         Conclusion

I have discovered that every story that I've read has meaning that we didn't know. Old stories has their own history, traditions, culture and beliefs that we didn't know. I've also noticed this that all of the stories has moral lessons like the wonder tree, the moral lesson in there is that we should not directly give up on what we want to do. There will always hope, no matter what happens to our self and also be patient. I've learned new things because of story "The Wonder Tree"

God has a bigger plan for me than I have for myself

                             5 POEMS

Poems about Life

We are the sum of experiences that we encounter as we go through life. Day to day struggles and triumphs are experienced by all of the world's creatures. As human beings, when we encounter a challenge, we have freedom to choose how to react. Every decision that we make leads us down a different road. We will never come to exactly the same crossroads. Every decision that we make has significance. The tiniest choice that we make reverberates throughout the entire universe.

Poems about Friendship

Friendship is one of life's greatest treasures. Friends that are loyal are always there to make you laugh when you are down, they are not afraid to help you avoid mistakes and they look out for your best interest. This kind of friend can be hard to find, but they offer a friendship that will last a lifetime. Other friends may not be quite as loving. The pain caused by a friendship marred by betrayal is not easy to overcome. In fact, many poems find their inspiration from the joy brought about by a loving friendship or the pain caused by a failed friendship.

Short Sweet Love Poems

A love poem will not always be long and flowery. Sometimes what you need to say can be very short. In fact it may be the fact that the poem is short that makes it special. Its short length may show that you put the time and effort in to make every word count. You considered carefully every word choice. Every word choice has a reason behind it. A short poem can be the ultimate act of romance when it is given the time and effort that it deserves.

Family Poems about Relationships

Our family is the proverbial egg that we were hatched from. Everything about who we are, both our nature and nurture comes from our family. Often in western society, we stray far from our family and may not talk to them for years at a time. We may feel that we have nothing in common with them. We may choose to run away from our roots because they are too painful to face. Ultimately however, our past holds the key to our future. If we do not face where we come from, we will have difficulty understanding our present and future.

Myself

I have to live with myself and so
I want to be fit for myself to know,
I want to be able as days go by,
To look at myself straight in the eye.
I don't want to stand with the setting sun
And hate myself for the things I've done.

I don't want to hide on a closet shelf
A lot of secrets about myself,
And fool myself as I come and go
Into thinking that nobody else will know
What kind of man I really am;
I don't want to dress myself in sham.

I want to go with my head erect,
I want to deserve all men's respect
And in this struggle for fame and pelf
I want to be able to like myself.
I don't want to look at myself and know
That I am a bluster and empty show.

I cannot hide myself from me;
I can see what others can never see;
I know what others can never know,
I cannot fool myself, and so

Whatever happens, I want to be
Self-respecting and conscience free.

Coming Out: The Truth Coming out is not painful, staying in is painful. Coming out is loose    ...
