Bakit Nanghuhusga Ang Mga Tao Sa Kapwa

from: Pinterest

Bawat isa sa atin ay may iba't- ibang kalagayan at kaanyuan sa buhay ngunit sa paningin sa Itaas ay pantay-pantay lang tayong lahat. Mayaman man o mahirap wala parin tayong karapatan na manghusga sapagkat may sarili-sarili tayong buhay.

       Wrestling Oneself

As much as people aim for a more competent image, overthinking comes in place as it becomes one of its mindset to do so. Indeed, it's pretty much normal to do such thing yet its just the matter of how to deal with it. From the word itself, 'big picture' defines as the complete perspective of an issue nor a situation. By just reading the quote, it implies that one should think of the future or consider of other parallel factors and not just to converge on the small details in which I personally utterly agree.

Wrestling with the big picture has various ways to deal with, one, could also be having insecurities, indeed, it's one of the contrary things to act upon. It leads us to keep on running and hiding which will be filled with regrets, with everything we've missed. People can see you. People are watching people. People will laugh at you, so what? staying sheltered inside your room is far less frightening than exposing your naked soul for all the world to judge. You, need to move beyond the doubts, insecurities, fear and push forward towards the version of yourself that can stand strong in the face of the challenges and barriers. Hence, have you ever considered looking for the path of a better image without any fuss? I can utterly understand that oneself finds it laborious to deal with such thing as in fact, it isn't that simple to overcome. Yet it's a matter of knowing, finding and being prudent could possibly take in place.

It just simply says that it can also be used to remind people not to fret over small problems in which questions such as "what if's" comes in place, I personally have been dealing with it more specifically recently. Yet a simple thing that I'll take, decisions that I make could lead to various of ways likewise, overthinking. Engrossing myself in just one simple situation could take time to deal with and it has been a thing. When doubting, I slowly keep on analyzing nor asking myself to those acts that I've made. When not contented, I keep on seeking to look for a better image to at least lessen the worries on why things did happen, in which having anxiety highly takes place.

By just reading the quotes it interprets to remind others to not reflect that much of the bigger picture as you overthink of it, to try and make decisions that help the situation apparent not complex. In my view, the quote deals with overthinking, it mainly focuses on it. " Wrestle with the big picture", usually occur to individuals that trying to look for more better image yet indeed leads them to hurt their one's head.

"Best things come when it's unexpected". It's better this way as people tend to gain when you have stopped striving toward a goal, and will no longer conceive about something that you put great effort into attempting to achieve previously. If you don't expect the unexpected you will not find it, for it is not to be and unwilling to entertain the improbable opportunity that comes looking for you. This certain quote speaks that gripping into one's image will surely lead to such unfavorable decisions. Thus, why not try to let things roll on its own way besides that could be a great thing to start with. Though, it may not be related to the quote that much yet it just reminds me of it.

In life, you don't need to know the big pictureyou simply just need to know what you're going to do next. We're only able to think 'big picture' to perceive better where the day to day life yet it seems like a problem you're never going to solve, not yet, as it takes up more space in ourselves. Self-talk could take place as it regulates you on what's going in and out of yourself yet you can step back from all of the noise and see the bigger picture. Stuck thoughts, on the other hand, speaks on the brick walls that form a prison around your mind. The harder you try to get rid of them, the more dominant they become and that usually happens. When having an intrusive thought first to do is to respond with logic, thinking that you quiet down the voice yet you empowers it. You allow it to debate with you and make its case. Thus, why bother to seek for more? when you can just be contented besides that isn't fatal at all.

                     INCIDENTS IN MYTHOLOGY

                                            Judgment of Paris

The story begins at the Wedding of Peleus and Thetis to which all the deities of the Greek pantheon were invited to the wedding festivities; that was all deities apart from Eris, the goddess of discord. Angered by the slight, Eris decided to turn up at the celebrations anyway; and she brought a gift, a golden apple. This was an apple of disharmony, and upon it was written the words “to the fairest.” Eris threw the apple amongst the wedding guests and waited for the arguments to start.
Three goddesses laid claim to the golden apple; each believing that they were the “fairest,” or most appealing of the assembled guests. These three claimants were Hera, the wife of Zeus, Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, and Athena, the goddess of wisdom.

Zeus was asked to mediate and he commanded Hermes to lead the three goddesses to Paris of Troy to decide the issue. The three goddesses, despite having profound natural beauty, were not content to allow Paris to make a decision based on looks alone. Each offering him gifts for a favor, Hera would promise him untold wealth and position in charge of all the realms of the ancient world. Athena would offer to all known skill and knowledge, allowing to become the greatest warrior and most knowledgeable mortal. Aphrodite though offered Paris the hand in marriage of the most beautiful of all mortal women. He made his decision and chose Aphrodite, swayed by her promise to bestow upon him Helen, the most beautiful woman, for a wife. Regardless of the fact that Helen was already married to Menelaus. The subsequent abduction of Helene led directly to the Trojan War and the fall of the city.

There's no doubt that "The Judgment of Paris" is particularly concerned with beauty. The astonishing thing is, the story doesn't celebrate beauty as a, particularly great thing. Throughout the story, it's a source of major conflict. No wonder Eris herself, chose to write for the fairest on the apple. She certainly knows how issues of beauty can push people's buttons. Whether it's the bickering of the three goddesses or the bloody Trojan War, which is started by Paris's obsession with lovely Helen, this story seems to show us that sometimes beauty can cause major problems.

Indeed, men desire to love more than wisdom or power Perhaps if we extend the meaning of the word "judgment" to include earning the fate you deserve. Troy was destroyed as a result of Paris's choice. After all, he had been fated to destroy his country. Having your country destroyed, your father and brother killed, over your choice to steal another man's wife could be seen as a form of judgment.

Hence, all choices come with consequences. All choices need to be deeply thought through, and one must also think about the consequence that might come with. Perhaps, from small decisions come earth-shattering results.

                                                Chryseis

Nearly ten years into the siege of Troy by the Greek forces, led by Agamemnon, Kind of Mycenae. The Greek Achaean army sacks Chryse, a town allied with Troy. During one of the Achaian army's many raids on the cities located near Troy, the Achaeans captured two beautiful enemy maidens, Chryseis and Briseis. The troops awarded these girls to Agamemnon, the commander-in-chief of the army, and Achilles, the Achaeans' greatest warrior. Chryseis's father, Chryses, who serves as a priest of the god Apollo, offers an enormous ransom in return for his daughter, but Agamemnon refuses to give Chryseis back. Chryses then prays to Apollo, who sends a plague upon the Achaean camp.

After many Achaeans die, Agamemnon consults the prophet Calchas to determine the cause of the plague. When he learns that Chryseis is the cause, he reluctantly gives her up but then demands Briseis from Achilles as compensation. This demand is very crucial to the story as it creates a key conflict between Achilles and Agamemnon which has a significant consequence for the Greeks in the Trojan War as it results in Achilles withdrawal from battle. He vengefully yearns to see the Achaeans destroyed and asks his mother, the sea-nymph Thetis, to enlist the services of Zeus, king of the gods, toward this end. The Trojan and Achaean sides have declared a cease-fire with each other, but now the Trojans breach the treaty and Zeus comes to their aid.

Pride and honor were introduced in both Agamemnon and Achilles believe that their honor is compromised in the decisions involving the female captives, Chryseis and Briseis. Perhaps that pride and honor do involve public perception as relevant principles. Agamemnon himself assumes that by demanding that Chryseis must be returned to Chryses, challenged his leadership and impugned his honor. Likewise, Achilles seems that replacing Briseis to Chryseis is an affront to his honor and a public show of disrespect. Individual senses of pride and honor here blind the two warriors to the greater good.

Their overweening pride requires them to react in foolish ways, Agamemnon in taking Achilles' captive Briseis and Achilles in withdrawing himself and his troops from battle. Homer once again shows that a noble human trait can be subverted by emotion into pettiness and irrationality.

Men themselves are depicted as in charge and higher up on the social ladder than women. Women are viewed as either objects or as manipulative beings set on ruining a man's purpose. Briseis and Chryseis also become objects to be gifted as war prizes or traded among the men.

Both Briseis and Chryseis, and even Helen to an extent, are discussed as prizes, not people. This type of discussion shows women as lacking the same rights as men in this culture. Women were taught to obey men, who held power over them even to the point of being able to trade them like cattle.

                                    Odysseus and Polyphemus

The island of the Cyclopes - the one-eyed giants - who lived peacefully tending their sheep. As luck would have it, though, Odysseus bumped into the man-eating Cyclops Polyphemus, the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. The giant took a fancy to the traveling Greeks and trapped them in his cave, swiftly eating two as an appetizer. Seeing the gravity of the situation, Odysseus immediately forged a cunning plan of escape. Tempting Polyphemos with wine until the cyclops was drunk, the hero ordered his men to turn Polyphemos’ olive-wood staff into a spike, this they then hardened in a fire and used to blind the Cyclops while he slept. Unable to see and understandably livid at his treatment,

Polyphemos tried to catch the traveling Greeks by feeling his sheep as they left the cave for their grazing. Odysseus then instructed his men to tie themselves to the bellies of the sheep whilst he chose a ram for the purpose, and thus they escaped to continue their voyage. Odysseus boasted to Polyphemus by revealing his name. However, the Cyclops cursed Odysseus, predicting the loss of his men, a wearisome voyage home, and disaster when he finally arrived there. Calling on the help of his father Poseidon, Polyphemos ensured that it would be many a storm and ten long years before Odysseus reached Ithaca.

Odysseus is quite full of himself for having tricked the Cyclops Polyphemus. Perhaps, is so pumped-up full of pride, enamored of his cleverness and cunning that he can't resist taunting the stricken Cyclops as his ship leaves the island. By revealing his identity and boasting about his exploits.

The revelation of his identity to Polyphemus ultimately proves foolish, and, because it embodies a lack of foresight, stands in abrupt contrast to the cunning prudence that Odysseus displays in his plan to escape from the cave.

It is said that self-control is a vital commodity for dealing with change. A lesson that we are still learning today. Like Odysseus, we have a habit of becoming too fond of ourselves. Boosted by pride and ego, we allow ourselves to believe that we are the rulers of our domain, if not masters of the  universe.

Through that, we suffer Odysseus’ fate. We overplay our hand. When our house of cards comes tumbling down, we fall with it. We lie in the ruins of our dreams, wondering how we could have ever believed in ourselves.

Life itself takes you by surprise, you need more than just focus and nerve to stay in control. Perhaps, oneself requires equanimity, tranquil acceptance of fate. To ensure that we are capable of maintaining it under conditions of uncertainty and risk, we must be ready to relinquish control and accept that.

Recognizing that life itself is out of your hands. This is how we cultivate genuine self-control. Self-control deals with focus, drive, and humility. To get it right, you need to rein in the desire to be in charge of the life. You must temper your pride with reason. You must be the master of your own house.

 The Theogony

Kronos and his wife, Rhea, ascended to the throne as king and queen of the gods. Had six children: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. There was a prophecy that one of Kronos’ children would overthrow him as he had his own father, and in order to prevent this, Kronos ate each of his children as they were born. Rhea, upset and horrified by Kronos’ actions, prevented him from eating her youngest child, Zeus, by giving Kronos a rock disguised as a baby in his place. In order to avoid being found by Kronos, Zeus was hidden on Mount Ida.

Once Zeus had matured and grown strong enough, he embarked to avenge his siblings and defeat Kronos. Disguising himself, Zeus forced Kronos into throwing up his siblings by giving him a poisoned drink. Alongside his siblings, the Cyclopes, and the Titans Prometheus and Epimetheus, Zeus fought against Kronos and his allies: the Giants. After a ten-year battle, Kronos was defeated, and Zeus and Hera ascended to the throne as the new and final rulers of the gods.

Ancient Greece focuses more on being the supreme as an individual, a state, or as a country. It concerns on lavishing in power, wealth, and religious procession. Considering that the nature of the divine toward the gods portrayed the weakness of man greed, aggression, and the need to rule.

Letting yourself make the right thing yet it may lead to very serious consequences, such as in the case of Prometheus. Don't let the power nor pride to overshadow what is truly important, such as in the cases of Uranus and Cronos.

Turns out that the Greeks relate to their world through fighting for power which leads to chaos. Throughout history, they fought among one another and it led toward destruction between families, government, and even their own country.

In conclusion, the Greeks' way of life was surrounded by politics and violence, yet they still practiced religious duties. Their daily routines are portrayed in their stories and especially in the creation myth.

                                        Trojan War

War? can either be considered as one of the most evolutionary events that a person can endure and something so uncommon for most people that there is ample opportunity to gain wisdom from the experience. Dealing with wars can certainly make a person different as he was before. It will change you. It can grow you and it can take things away from you. Talking about wars doesn't just deal with disturbing things that it can do yet learnings have also a prominent role in it. By means the ability to exude confidence when faced with death. Notify us that we are stronger than believe ourselves to be and that we may possess strength, wisdom, and insight beyond expectation.

The story of the Trojan war has fascinated individuals for centuries by means they have given rise to countless scholarly articles, books, epic movies, tv documentaries, sculptures nor souvenirs. Based on what I've found archaeologists are hesitant to conclude that such an event took place. In other words, there was various conclusion whether the Trojan war did happen yet most of the results is that the war did exist based on those pieces of evidence, information that have come up. Archaeology has allegedly confirmed Troy (Ilion) existed, was sacked several times, rebuilt and was a subject to war at the time which the Trojan Cycle suggests. To point out, Trojan Cycle is not a historical record, but it is not a fairy tale either. Did it happen the way described in the Trojan cycle? Most likely not. While we do have today both archaeological evidence Trojan War really happened and also literary indices from Hittite documents there indeed was a war where Wilusa (Ilusa, Ilion) was sacked. Certain characters, like Paris (also known as Alexander), referred as ‘Alaksandush’ in Hittite records, are likely to have been historical. But the historicity of the Trojan War was finally confirmed in 1988, when an outer wall of Troy VIIa was discovered, extending the area of Troy VIIa tenfold and making Troy VIIa a real city instead of a mere akropolis, hilltop fort. Whatever that war is, there are several proofs, albeit shadowy, that shows that the war did indeed happen between 1600–1100 BC. It’s just that the mythical stuff did not happen.

Dealing with conflicts wouldn't be as mild as it looks in fact, it's natural and inevitable as it should be. Considering having one is seemingly laborious to manage. However, it can be resolved in certain ways. As human beings, we are primed to respond to stress with a match as a response which is inappropriate. That connects to the story of Trojan war where jealously, rage, pride, or even revenge was the main concern. Whatever the reason, these quarrels become something that shapes and defines an individual. Hence, we need to find a way to address conflict that is direct and assertive, while also respectful and diplomatic. There are ways of dealing with conflict constructively to resolve arguments and disputes amicably, instead of allowing the situation to get out of hand. Conflict resolution is an important skill for everyone to develop.

Indeed, a war leaves with scars, whether emotional or physical perhaps probably the most unfair thing in life that someone may have to deal with. Though having a disturbing war could also lead to a comprehension that life itself isn't just about surviving but instead how we live with it. Learnings are one thing as well. How to keep our hopes alive, hope is abstract, but the repercussions of losing hope can be detrimental to any life.

NEPAL’S EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS PLAN

Nepal is a highly disaster-prone country. The country has a fault line at the lower part of Nepal between Indo-Australian plate and Eurasian Plate. The fault is a more likely part of the Alpine- Himalayan Belt because of the place being near the Himalayans and Mt. Everest. Nepal is also known as “the ceiling of the world” because it has 8 out of 10 of the world’s highest mountains. The first in the list is the Mount Everest. It is the collision of these plates that has produced the Himalaya Mountains, and with them, there are earthquakes. The epicenter was near the Chinese border between the capital of Kathmandu and Mt. Everest.

For the structure if their buildings, they’re mostly from the Buddha’s period which could be thousands of years ago. The traditional resources were adobe constructions, wooden-framed houses, and rubble stone masonry were the most popular in villages while urban and suburbs were stone or brick masonry which is 20% of reinforced concrete. So that means that 80% of Nepal’s buildings were non-engineered. April 25 earthquake measured 7.8 on the moment magnitude scale, the largest since the 1934 Bihar quake, which measured 8.2 and killed around 10,000 people. Another quake in Kashmir in 2005, measuring 7.6, killed around 80,000 people.

After the earthquake event, ninety-four percent of people have realized the risk of earthquake disaster while more than eighty percent have seriously discussed the potential effect within family and community and identified the need for preparedness at the household and community level

Before and After the Bihar Earthquake

Building structures from Nepal

The reaction-based from the information gathered, we are clearly disturbed because Nepal isn’t ready enough in case there are earthquakes or disasters. Since Nepal is also considered as one of the world’s natural disaster “hotspots” Even the structures of the buildings and houses are made out of adobe construction, wooden framed houses and rubble stone masonry. Nepal is one of the most destructive and life taking scenarios if any quake might happen. Their facilities and structures are not compatible for any trembling may occur. Nepal has the convergent boundary or also known as a destructive boundary in which it can be so dangerous for the people living. If they won’t strengthen and enhance their facilities, structures, and preparedness, many would suffer their lives, so with that, they should be warned.

Between the two countries of Nepal and the Philippines, both of them are in poverty but Nepal has lack of facilities for them to improve the structures of their buildings. Nepal was placed literally on top of Alpine-Himalayan Belt while the Philippines is placed around 5 different faults namely The Eastern Philippine Fault, The South of Mindanao Fault, Central Philippine Fault, and the Markina/ Valley Fault System. So, therefore, Nepal gets more intense earthquakes than the Philippines. Nepal also gets least volunteers than the Philippines, their preparedness plan is different from the Philippines. According to our research, five percent of the locals in Nepal only participated in discussions events and think that these type of programs are neither sufficient nor effective. Eighty-five percent of the people have learned about earthquake risk from these media sources. In Nepal they don’t perform or execute in having seminars or discussions, they only tell the civilians what will happen before, during, and after the earthquake. While in the Philippines the NDRRMC hold seminars that discuss and make the civilians perform for them to get to know what will happen before, during and after. They inform what should they prepare if any calamities might happen. The buildings of Nepal are mostly made of stone brick masonry and only 40% of total buildings are made of reinforced concrete, which can withstand an earthquake with better survivability while in the Philippines total percentage of reinforced concrete buildings is considerably higher.

Earthquakes are unpredictable, we individuals wouldn’t even know whether when will that thing happen nor would that be vulnerable one or not. As what individuals would always say, “Best the thing to do is just to be prepared physically and mentally”

We should be prepared anytime because we cannot predict our future. That’s why preparedness should be practiced and must matter to everyone the most so that not only you can save yourself, but if you see someone needs help, you can lend your hands to grab them. Be alert every time and join any seminars that involve first aid and preparedness so that if there are calamities, you always know what to do and what you shouldn’t do.

Before, Nepal’s earthquake plan regarding on preparedness is not so powerful enough to lessen the casualties since Nepal is also known as one of the poorest country, and they couldn’t afford to make the structures of the buildings strong enough to withstand the tragedy. But now, a new government task force was created to help deal with future earthquakes. The people are now educated across Nepal to perform earthquake drills.

It’s also good since they are planning for the structures of the building that it shouldn’t be the same as before where it can be easily crushed into pieces due to the trembling and movement of the ground that can’t withstand the subduction of the two plates which are the Indo- Australian Plate and Eurasian Plate.
